Greetings, NYD5K participants!
THERE ARE NO REFUNDS OR DEFERRALS. NO strollers or dogs will be allowed on the race course. If you have any issues, contact charlottesvilletrackclub@gmail.com. VIRTUAL OPTION AVAILABLE! Run your 5K anytime between 12/30/2021 and 1/9/2022. And any of you who are supporting the event VIRTUALLY, may do so at any time over the next week at the course of your choice. To our Free Union guests, we ask that you CAREFULLY read the following instructions, as they will help to enhance your race day experience and will assure that you and all of our volunteers are safe throughout the event. Thanks! Happy Racing and we will look forward to seeing you! PROCEEDS BENEFIT CHARLOTTESVILLE TRACK CLUB SKIP KINNIER SCHOLARSHIP FUND The scholarship is awarded annually by the Charlottesville Track Club to high school seniors. The applicant must live in one of ten counties: Albemarle, Greene, Orange, Louisa, Fluvanna, Buckingham, Nelson, Augusta, Rockingham, or Madison; or the cities within these counties. The applicant must express an interest in running by either being a member of their local high school cross country or track teams, or participate in a Charlottesville Track Club event within the past year. Race details
*Your race number must be pinned (in all four corners) to the outside layer of your front, so as to properly trigger your chip. If you have multiple members of your family running, please make sure that you each wear the correct number (your names are on the back of each number).
*You MUST wear a mask from the time you get out of your vehicle, including on your warmup, until you cross the starting line. You may take your mask off while running the course but as soon as you cross the finish line, we ask that you immediately wear your mask again. In other words, masks must be worn at ALL times except while racing out on the 5K course. This is for the safety of our medical team, our volunteers and for you, our guests. Thanks!
*We are thrilled to have chip timing for this year’s event, thanks to our friends at Blue Ridge Timing, so we will have overall and age group results. We will not post the results until the last finisher has completed the event. Age groups are as follows: 10 & younger, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.
Also, the NYD5K is the first event in our 2022 RACEFEST series, where we will be keeping track of your individual points you accumulate at each event in the series. 5 points will be awarded each time you complete an event. You may accumulate more points based on your age group finish (3 points for 1st in your age group, 2 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd). Top 3 overall placers will also be awarded points. There are 8 races in the series, starting with the NYD5K.
*We will have portajohns at the race site for your convenience.
*Dr. Wilder, our wonderful longtime Race Medical Director, will be on hand, along with his Runner’s Clinic crew. We are grateful for their ongoing volunteer help. We also appreciate the help of our CTC volunteers, who will be helping to safely guide you throughout your race experience.
